CLIENT FEEDBACK

Our Petit Chevre Success Story

My little girl, Michaela Gouws, now 17 months old, was born on the 26 th of November 2007 and her first two and a half months was total bliss. Between breastfeeding, cooing and sleeping everything settled in just fine. But things suddenly took a turn for the worst when we started topping up the breastfeeds with milk formula. At the tender age of three months she had her first ear infection ( Otitis media ) and it just wouldn't clear up, no matter how much antibiotics was forced through her system, no improvement. We were sent from specialist to specialist and in the end she underwent her very first operation at 3.5 months to receive grommets in both ears. We were assured that the problem would clear up and that she would get better in no time.

However, our problems persisted and got worse by the month. Between frequent visits tot the pediatric surgeon, ear nose and throat specialist, physiotherapist, pathologists, clinic and pharmacy, our medical aid ran out and her infections got more frequent. Through ear infections, eye infections, bouts of high fever, diarrhea, a constantly blocked and runny nose and body rash, she kept on smiling and we kept on medicating. In no time at all, my fridge started looking like the local pharmacy! With the cold winter months, came no relief, just more serious infections, up to the point where she had to receive intravenous antibiotics in hospital for a period of five days. At that stage my precious baby girl was taken to hospital every morning for her antibiotics (administered via drip!!!!) then rushed off to the physio for steaming, sucking and laser treatments, screaming hysterically all through it and then back to daycare.

By October 2008 I was at the end of my rope and my baby worse off than ever. Due to the administration of antibiotics on a regular basis Michaela was getting Candida nappy rash and was not gaining weight properly. Her whole immune system was down and out. That's when one of my friends suggested that I take a trip to her homeopath and have my baby examined. That turned out to be one of the best decisions I ever made! After an initial examination and some background on her condition, the homeopath took a saliva sample, went into his laboratory and called out a few minutes later: “Your little girl is allergic to dairy!” At that moment everything ‘clicked', and indeed he was spot on. It turned out that Michaela was allergic to a specific milk protein also found in soya products but not present in goat's milk. Since our first visit six month ago, her allergy levels have dropped by 66%!

I started off with Alpi goat's milk powder and almost immediately noticed results. However, the milk powder is both difficult to locate (only a few stores stock this product) and time consuming to prepare. By the time Michaela was 12 months old I started looking for fresh milk suppliers. After trying a couple of suppliers, I stumbled onto a website containing lots of useful information on goat's milk products, interesting facts on allergies en most important, a list of local suppliers. That's how I got in contact with the wonderful people at Petite Chèvre. They have been supplying us with fresh goat's milk, goat's milk cheese and yoghurt for the past six months. My little toddler has not had a single ear infection since starting on these products, in fact she grown profusely and is a very happy and healthy baby! One of the best features of the milk received from the Petit Chèvre udders is the fact that it can be successfully frozen for up to 3 months. Now I can make sure that we are fully stocked up every month. Where Michaela was not fond of the various formula milk options we tried in her first year, she now giggles and jumps for joy when her milk is prepared. We also make yoghurt lollies from the delicious home made yoghurt Petit Chèvre supplies and have even used the fresh milk successfully in the preparation of baked goodies.

Dear Karen and Hendrik, I'm forever grateful for the difference your Saanen products have made in Michaela's life!

Warm Regards, Reinette Gouws

Thank you for the previous email listing all the additional products that you offer - I'm sure we'll be exploring them soon! My girl is 3,5 years old. She doesn't have any (cows) milk at school, but loves a good warm cup of goat's milk with a bit of honey at bed time, or tea with goat's milk at noon . I'm Russian by nationality, and last year we had the opportunity to go visit my grandfather in Russia whose neighbours keep goats, and in one month Lisa drank over 11 litres of the freshest goat's milk - her skin and sleep improved, and needless to say she built up some good immunity. She usually gets a bad skin as well as cold, sinus, ear infections and bronchitis easily if she has any cow's milk, so I believe that we have a good chance of fighting the colds and flu's this winter thanks to the milk that you provided for us.Many thanks for keeping up the correspondence and thank you for the wonderful milk and for my daughter's delight! May your business grow and prosper! Best regards to you and Hendrik. Anastasia & Lisa
